Reasi, Sep 30: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday said that it have arrested 21 more absconders, who were evading arrests since years in the Reasi district in the last four weeks, while around 100 absconders have been arrested since May this year under the F’rari Giraftari drive in the district.  

As per a statement, a spokesperson said that 21 more absconders, evading arrests since years have been arrested, while 35 warrants have been executed in the last four week under F’rari Giraftari drive against underground criminals and absconders in Reasi.

“Around 100 absconding criminals which include 04 OGWs, 10 surrendered militants, 05 murder and attempt to murderer accused of whom 19 were involved in kidnapping and rape, 09 were involved in drug peddling and 53 were involved in other offences and were evading arrests since years have been arrested and produced in the concerned courts since May 2021, while 154 general warrants of Arrest issued by Hon’ble Courts have been executed,” the statement reads.

It reads that out of these 100 absconders 12 have been arrested after 30 years, 18 after 20 years, 31 apprehended after 10 years and 39 were arrested after 05 years of commission of crime. “Meanwhile, 10 absconders under pressure of being caught have opted to surrender before the concerned courts of district than being caught by Reasi Police.”

Meanwhile, as per the statement, Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi, Shailender Singh said that F’rari Giraftari is an initiative for arresting the absconders who are evading arrests since years. “Under this drive Reasi Police remained successful in nabbing hardcore, notorious and habitual criminals who were evading the due process of law since years and against whom General Warrants of Arrest were issued by Hon’ble Courts were pending.”

He said that the arrests of these criminals are important police work to maintain peace and tranquility in the area and Reasi Police will leave no stone unturned to arrest and produce them in concerned trial court of law.

The statement reads that to proactively tighten the noose against the criminals, six months back, Police in the Reasi district have recommended nine cases for cancellation of gun licenses with dossiers of history sheeters of the district.
