Srinagar, October 20: Two militants were killed in an overnight encounter in Melhura area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
One militant was killed during the initial exchange of firing on Monday.
Later, the government forces halted the operation due to darkness and resumed this morning with the killing of second militant, they said.
However the identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.
Earlier a joint team of Police and army’s 55RR launched a cordon and search operation in Melhura
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.(GNS)
