Srinagar: Gunfight erupted between government forces and militants in Brath village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district Wednesday morning.
Local residents said that the joint teams of army’s 22RR and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation in the area following inputs the presence of militants.
A police official said that the hiding militants fired upon the government forces triggering a gunfight.
Meanwhile, authorities have suspended internet services in the town as a precautionary measure and have ordered the closure of Degree College Sopore to avoid protests.
