Srinagar: The subscribers of Airtel in Kashmir are agitated over the poor services of the telecom company and the callous attitude of the officials who they accuse of ‘fleecing customers’ in the name of service.

The locals said that they are facing tremendous hardships due to the poor network of Airtel for last several months.

“There are call drop issues, the Internet does not work properly,” said a group of residents in downtown Srinagar.

Another resident in uptown Srinagar said that the company is fleecing customers in the name of 4G internet. “The fact is that Airtel’s internet speed is never 4G. More often the network is lost,” he said.

A number of journalists also complained that the company’s network is pathetic particularly in the indoors.

“For the last several months I have been ringing the officials of Airtel and have apprised them about the issue of internet speed and call drop,” said a journalist working with a New Delhi based media outlet.

He said that the customer care representatives played him with words all the time. “Every time they promised that the network would be rectified and the issue would be resolved.”

The residents of downtown, however, said that every time they complained about the issue, they were promised an instant call back by the CSR’s. However, the call never came.

Officials of the Airtel did not respond to the calls from The Kashmir Press.
