Srinagar: Parts of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district are observing a complete shutdown on Monday for the second straight day against the killing of a local M.Tech student-turned-militant Rahil Rashid Sheikh of Nunar.

Rahil had joined Hiz-ul-Mujahiddin militant outfit on April 3 and was killed along with an associate during a gunfight in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on April 6.

All shops and other business establishments are shut in Kangan, Nunar, Wayil, Dursuma, Manigam, Dudarhama and Beehma and public transport is also off the roads.

However, reports said that private vehicles are plying normally on Srinagar-Leh highway passing through Kangan, Lar and Manigam areas.

The district administration has announced closure of Government Degree College and Government Higher Secondary schools at Ganderbal and Nunar area, as a precautionary measure.
