Srinagar: Thousands of people on Thursday morning amid inclement weather conditions attended the funeral prayers of three slain militants in northern Kashmir’s Baramulla.

Three militants were killed in a brief gunfight with government forces in Binner area of the district on Wednesday.

The slain trio were affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba and have been identified as Shoaib Akhoon of Khanpora, Mosin Mushtaq of Qazihamam and Nissar Darzi of Jamia Mohalla Old Town.

Eyewitnesses said that people from various villages thronged the funerals amid massive pro-islam, Pro-Pakistan and Pro-freedom slogans.

In Khanpora village of Baramulla large number of mourners shouting pro-freedom and pro-Pakistan slogans carried slain militant’ Shoaib Akhoon’s body in a procession to the graveyard for burial.

In Old town Baramulla slain Nisar and slain Mohsin’s bodies were carried by thousands of mourners from their homes to a local graveyard where funeral prayers were held.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in the area to mourn and protest against the militant killings.

Reports said that all shops and other business establishments are shut while traffic in old town is off the roads.

A heavy deployment of government forces have been made to thwart pro freedom processions.
