Srinagar: Three militants have been killed in a gunfight with government forces Saturday morning in Kharpora village of southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Two army personnel have also suffered injuries during the gunfight.

Reports quoting officials said that three militants have been killed while two forces personnel have suffered injuries.

The gufight erupted after army’s 55 RR, 183/182 CRPF and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off Kharpora and launched a search operation.

”As the searches were going on, the militants fired upon the government forces triggering a gunfight,” the reports said.

The identification of the slain militants is being ascertained while preliminary reports said that all the three slain militants belonged to Hizb ul Mujahideen. The slain, reports said, include a top commander.

Some reports also said that the slain militants include Zahoor Thoker who deserted the army ranks and joined militant ranks earlier this year.
