Srinagar: Train service resumed on Tuesday after remaining suspended for a day due to security reasons in the Kashmir valley.

The JRL had called for a general strike on the first of the four-phased Urban Local Bodies (UBL) and Panchayat polling on Monday.

“We have resumed all train runs in the Kashmir valley after a fresh advisory was received from police last night, a senior railway official said.

“We are acting on the advice of police as safety and security of passengers,” he added.

He said trains will chug on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region. Similarly, trains will run on Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir, he said, adding that in fact, all morning trains on these routes are running as per schedule.
