Srinagar: After back to back six rounds of funeral prayers, the slain militant Majid Manzoor Dar, who was killed in a gunfight along with his three associates was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard at Talangam village in Pulwama district on Saturday morning.

Witnesses said that the slain was laid to rest amid pro-freedom slogans.

Dar according to police was affiliated with the Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir militant group.

Dar was killed along with Dawood Ahmad Sofi of HMT Srinagar, Aadil Rehman Bhat of Anantnag and Mohammad Ashraf Itoo of Anantnag.

Since Friday evening, thousands of mourners from adjoining villages and far-off places had been streaming into the native village of the slain militant to participate in his last rites.

Meanwhile a civilian, Mohammad Yousuf Rather and SOG man Aashiq Hussain were also killed during the encounter.
