Hyderabad:Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of Majlis Itehadul Muslimin (MIM) on Friday rejected the United Nations’ human rights report on Kashmir and said it had no right to ‘interfere’ in India’s sovereignty, The Hindu reported

Owaisi was addressing a gathering at the Jalsa-e-Youm-ul-Quran event on the last Friday of Ramzan. “This is indeed a diplomatic failure of the Government of India, but I want to reiterate my party’s policy and tell the United Nations: you have no right to interfere in the internal matters of our country. India is a democracy and will remain one. Here, the human rights commission is independent and the judiciary is independent,”  The Hindu quoted  Owaisi as saying .

He said that despite the political and ideological differences with the Prime Minister in matters of sovereignty, the country came first.

While  Owaisi said he stood with the Government of India on UN’s report on Kashmir issue, he criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party and the People’s Democratic Party combine and accused them of failing to control infiltration from Pakistan. He also lashed out at both parties for displacement of thousands of Indians from villages along the Indo-Pak border and said the government’s policy in Kashmir ‘is not working’.

The MIM president condemned the killing of noted journalist Shujaat Bukhari, his two security officers and Army jawan Aurangzeb and described the perpetrators as ‘agents of Satan’.
