J&K Wakf Board approves 30 percent salary hike for Imam’s

Srinagar, Mar 05: J&K Wakf Board on Sunday approved 30 percent hike in monthly remuneration of Imam’s associated to Wakf Masjids and Shrines.

Chairperson J&K Wakf Board, Dr Darkhshan Andrabi exclusively said that the monthly salary of Imams has been enhanced with 30 percent hike. She said Imams who are rendering their services were getting less salary (Kafaf) from a very long time, however their long pending demand was today fulfilled.

“Our Imam’s should be respected utmost in society as they have been assigned to preach the teachings of Allah and His Beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW). They are spreading divine teachings so it is our duty to take care of their concerns,” Wakf Chairperson, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi said.

She said in view of the holy month of Ramadhan a meeting was held with all Imam’s associated with Wakf Board wherein arrangements for Ramadhan in Wakf associated Masjids and Shrines were discussed threadbare. Besides several long pending demands of Imam’s were also taken up at the occasion.

To a query she said salary of Wakf employees other than Imams will also be increased in future. “Our employees are jugular vein of Wakf. Their scale of salary will also be upgraded in future,” she said and added, “Imam’s out of Wakf who are getting meager salaries should also be revisited by their respective authorities”.

She added that during the meeting it was decided that libraries at all Masjids and Shrines will be made functional where Islamic and Sufi literature will be made available for common masses. Also Taburrakat at Wakf associated Masjids and Shrines will be preserved. kns
