Srinagar, Aug 02: The Jammu & Kashmir Government has warned officers over delay in registration of documents and directed them to ensure it mandatorily on the appointed date and time.
The Revenue department has directed the sub-registrars to ensure registration of documents of citizens mandatorily on the appointed date and time to avoid any inconvenience and hardships to them and also to bring in more efficiency and transparency in document registration.
The Government has warned them that any violation of the directive would entail disciplinary action against them.also to bring in more efficiency and transparency in document registration.
“Any document not fit for registration should be reverted or refused as per the merits of the case, strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Registration Act, 1908 and other relevant laws,” reads a circular issued by Revenue secretary, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri.
According to the circular, the delay in registration of documents defeating the objective of online document registration.
“It has been brought to the notice of the Government that certain sub-registrars do not conduct registration of documents uploaded by the citizens on the appointed date and time, leading to delay in registration, thereby defeating the objective of online document registration through the National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) and also casting doubts on the conduct of staff assisting in these registrations,” the circular states.
The registration of documents in the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir was done by judicial officers in accordance with provisions of The Jammu & Kashmir Registration Act-1977.
Post August 5, 2019 constitutional changes, the J&K Government created a separate department of Registration under the executive.kno
