Person arrested for collecting funds for banned Jamaat-e-Islami in Baramulla: Police

Srinagar: Police have arrested one person involved in collection of funds in the name of banned organization JeI (Jamaat-e-Islami ) in Baramulla.

According to the police statement, acting on a specific information about collection of money in the name of banned organization Jamaat-e-Islami in Baramulla town, Baramulla Police & 46RR arrested one person identified as Mohd Amin Ganie son of Ali Mohammad Ganie resident of Microwave Colony Kanlibagh Baramulla who was riding a scooty bearing registration No JK05G-7856. 3 receipt books of Jamaat-e-Islami, 1 mobile phone and cash 15900 INR, which was collected by him from the general public in the name of banned organization JeI, was recovered. During further investigation, a search was also carried out at his house at Kanlibagh Baramulla where from 02 JK Bank Passbook, 03 JK Bank Cheque Books and blank booklet of Jamaat-e-Islami was recovered, he said.

Accordingly, a case FIR number 68/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Baramulla and investigation has been started, he said.

Police requests general public to help them in identifying anti-national & anti-social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment, so that action can be taken against them, reads the statement.
