Srinagar, Apr 02: A six year-old girl was allegedly molested by a pandit teacher in Soura area of summer capital Srinagar, sources said on Monday, while police says fast track probe is on.
They told news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that the father of a six year old girl name (withheld), filed a complaint at police station Soura and alleged that her daughter was allegedly molested by a Pandit teacher.
They further said that Police swung into action and arrested the allegedly accused teacher identified as Amit Amberdar @Ravi, a resident of Janipur Jammu A/p Vicharnag on a rented residence of a Pandit house was arrested and a case under FIR no 27/2022 under section 376 and POSCO act was registered against the allegedly accused.
Locals and family members while protesting said that a minor girl was molested in Soura area on March 31 after which they approached police. They demanded punishment for the accused.
Srinagar Police in a statement said “There is certain news going on in social media about rape of a minor girl, it is clarified that no such incident happened.”
They said that two days ago, there was a complaint lodged by a family about suspected molestation of a minor girl, wherein Srinagar police lodged FIR under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO act. The accused was also arrested immediately.
Further, police said there was no complaint of rape by family of members of minor girl, which was corroborated by medical examination as well.
Some unscrupulous elements are trying to give this incident a communal colour by giving motivated statements with intention to create communal divide. Public is requested not to pay heed to such rumours, the statement added. (KDC)
