Two Militants Killed in brief encounter at Rainawari in Srinagar: Police

Srinagar, Mar 30: Two local militants have been killed in a brief encounter with government forces in Rainawari area in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district, police officials said.

They said that an encounter broke out between forces and militants in Surtaing area of Rainawari during which two militants were killed.

Earlier, in a tweet, police had said that two militants were killed in an brief encounter at Rainwari at around 1:00am.

The police has identfied the duo as Rayees Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Hameed Bhat of Shahbad Veeri Bijbhera and Hilal Ahmad Rah alias Shaboo son of Safeer Ahmad Rah of Kuthipora Waghama Bijbehara.

According to officials that Rayees had gone missing on 8th August last year while Rah went missing on 18th October same year. Both were affliated with Lashkar-i-Toiba and were category-C militants.

” Before joining militant ranks, Rayees was running an online news portal VNS,”they said.

“Killed terrorist (Rayees Ah Bhat) was earlier a journalist &was running online news portal ‘ValleyNews Service’ in Anantnag. Joined terrorist ranks in 8/2021 &was categorised ‘C’ in our list. 02 FIRs are already registered against him for terror crimes.”
