Had NC formed Govt after 2014 polls, Art 370 wouldn’t have been removed: Omar

Jammu, Nov 30: National Conference (NC) vice president, Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said that the Article 370 wouldn’t have been removed in case his party could have formed the government after the 2014 elections.

“We were aware of the intentions of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and warned Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed. We even warned him of the repercussions after the bonhomie with BJP and the alliance he had entered into with the BJP,” Omar told a gathering in Jammu today. He said that people of J&K have paid a heavy price for PDP-BJP alliance.

Omar said that NC had extended support to Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed after 2014 polls and told him that the party is not power hungry but want to keep BJP at bay, but “they didn’t listened to us.”

“NC couldn’t win from maximum seats during the 2014 elections, but had NC formed the government after 2014, Article 370 and 35A would have never been removed, Roshni lands would have never been snatched, contactors from outside would have never been called here,” he said. Omar said that at this stage he has no intentions to gain power but to fight for the rights of people of J&K. “I have served as the Chief Minister of J&K and I don’t want power at this stage,” he said.

Omar said that BJP claims that post abrogation of article 370, J&K has witnessed peace, prosperity and development but “whatever has happened is quite visible to one and all on ground.”kno
