Srinagar, Nov 1: This year October turned out the bloodiest month in which 45 persons were killed in militancy related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir.

Data  reveals that 20 militants, 12 army soldiers and 13 civilians lost their lives in the month of October.

From casualty point of view, October turns out the deadliest month. In October, 20 militants were neutralized, though the highest number of militants killed this year was in the month of July and the count was 31.

Among the 13 civilians killed in October, 2 were shot dead at security check-points while 11 were killed by suspected militants. The slain civilians were Abdul Rehman Guroo from Galwanteng Chatabal, PDD employee Muhammad Shafi Dar of SD Colony Batamaloo, Bindro Medicate owner Makhan Lal, vendor Virendra Paswan from Bhagalpur Bihar, Sumo Stand President Muhammad Shafi alias Sonu of Shahgund Hajin area of Bandipora, Sapendar Kour of Alochi Bagh, Deepak Chand of Jammu, Parvez Ahmed of Rajkang Larnoo area of Kokarnag, vendor Arvind Kumar of Bihar, carpenter Sageer Ahmed from Saharanpur UP, Raja Reshi Dev, Jogindar Reshi Dev from Bihar and Shahid Aijaz, a resident of Anantnag.

Joint forces neutralized 20 militants in different encounter taking place at Rakhama, Tulran, Dragadh and Feeripora villages of Shopian, Soput Kulgam, Baghat and Bemina Srinagar, Gund Jahangir Bandipora, Khagund Dooru area of Anantnag, Tral and Wahibugh Pulwama and Cherdari area of Baramulla.

At least 12 soldiers were killed in October and most the casualties were reported from Bhuat Duran forest belt of Poonch where according to police an under-trial militant Zia Mustafa was also killed in militant firing. (KNT)
