2 women among 10 civilians injured in HSHS grenade explosion

Srinagar, August 10: At least ten civilians including two women were injured in a grenade explosion at Hari Singh High Street area of commercial hub Lal Chowk on Tuesday.

Official sources informed that suspected militants lobbed a grenade towards 40 battalion of SSB near Hanuman Mandir here at Hari Singh High Street.

They said two women among ten civilians have sustained injuries, adding that they were shifted to SMHS hospital for treatment. “The area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers,” they said.

A police official said that ten persons who sustained injuries were identified as Gulzar Ahmad s/o Ghulam Mohiuddin Ganie r/o Bandipora, Aparna Dera W/o Rangeet Dara r/o Calcutta at present HSHS, Arjan Singh s/o Janak Siingh r/ o Ramban, Owais Ahmad Laway s/o Gh Mohiudin r/o Chanpora Srinagar, Firdous Ahmad Kotta s/o Gh Ahmad r/o Bemina Srinagar, Ab Gani Sheikh son of Ab Ahad r/o Beerwa, Budgam, Mushtaq Hussain s/o Gh Hassan r/o Khumani chowk Bemina, Srinagar, Suhail Ahmad Dar s/o Farooq Ahmad Dar r/o Chadoora, Budgam, Zulaikha, Ashraf Ahmad r/o Kargil, Tariq Ahmad s/o Md shafi r/o Burzhama Hazratbal Srinagar. Official sources said that all the injured are stable and out of danger.

Meanwhile, Kishore Prasad, DIG CRPF for Central Kashmir told reporters that the militants targeted the SSB party by hurling the grenade that exploded on the road. “Some civilians have received minor injuries. The area has been cordoned off and searches are going on,” he said
