Jerusalem, May 21: Israeli police intervened against the congregation with plastic bullets and stun grenades after Friday prayers in Masjid al-Aqsa in occupied East Jerusalem, Anadolu Agency reported.

After the Friday prayers, thousands of Palestinians celebrated Israel’s step back and reaching a ceasefire with Hamas in Mescid-i Aqsa, reports said.

“Raising Palestinian flags under the porches between the Dome of the Sahara and the Qibla Masjid, the crowd frequently brought takbir”.

The Palestinians then arrived at the point where Israeli police were stationed near Dome of the Rock, reports added.

As the tension increased, the Israeli police tried to disband the group by attacking the Palestinians with sound bombs and plastic bullets, added reports.

On the other hand, in a statement made by the Israeli police, it was stated that many people threw stones and Molotov cocktails in the demonstration held after the Friday prayer, reports said.

“In a written statement made by the Palestinian Red Crescent, it was stated that 20 Palestinians were injured in the intervention of the Israeli police in Masjid al-Aqsa.”
