Man held with pistol After accident in Rajouri

 

Jammu, Dec 17: Police on Thursday arrested a man working in Government Animal Husbandry department and recovered one pistol and six bullets from his possession after an accident last night.

Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri Chandan Kohli said that late evening on Wednesday, an accident took place when a car (JK11B-9271) driven by Jasvinder Singh son of Amarjeet Singh of Nonial Nowshera skidded off the road at Chatta Siot.

“Soon after the accident, a team of police headed by SI Kamal Kumar under the supervision of SHO Dharamsal Rajinder Sharma rushed to the spot for legal formalities. However car driver started to escape from the spot.” the SSP said.

He however said that the police team chased the driver and managed to detain him. “One pistol and six bullets of 7.65 mm caliber were recovered from his possession,” he said, adding, “Accused was arrested from the spot and a case under relevant sections of law for carrying an illegal weapon has been registered with further investigation into the matter is going on.” (GNS)
