Jammu, Nov 21: An army soldier was killed and another injured as India and Pakistan armies exchanged fire along Line of Control in Lam sector in Rajouri district, officials said on Saturday.

They Indian army gave a “befitting response” to the unprovoked firing by Pakistan.

“Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation on the line of control (LoC) in Nowshera Sector, District Rajouri (J&K). Own troops responded strongly to the enemy fire. In the incident, Hav Patil Sangram Shivaji was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries,” defence ministry spokesman based in Jammu said.

“Hav Patil Sangram Shivaji was a brave, highly motivated and a sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for his supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty,” he said.
