Srinagar, Nov 14: Peoples Democratic party chief Mehbooba Mufti termed attacks on People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD)being formed for “petty electoral gains or to further party interests” as “erroneous”, underlining “We have a bigger cause to fight for than bicker over DDC elections.”

“PAGD was formed solely to safeguard the identity of people of J&K that s been under constant attack since Aug 2019. To assume it was created for petty electoral gains or to further party interests is erroneous. We have a bigger cause to fight for than bicker over DDC elections,” Mehbooba, the former chief minister said in a tweet.

JK Peoples Conference chief and former minister in PDP-BJP government Sajjad Gani Lone seconded it.

“I agree with every word and would further add that the reality as it exists is that statesmanship and magnanimity is still a missing trait in our polity. And the absence is being felt more than any other time,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mehbooba Mufti termed as mounting casualties on both sides of LOC as sad and asked leadership of both India and Pakistan to rise above political compulsions and initiate dialogue.

“If only Indian & Pakistani leadership could rise above their political compulsions & initiate dialogue. Restoring the ceasefire agreed upon & implemented by Vajpayee ji & Musharaf sahab is a good place to start,” she said in a separate tweet. (GNS)
