Mehbooba Mufti released after 14 months as Govt revokes her PSA detention order

Srinagar, Oct 13): Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday revoked PSA detention of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.

Official sources said that J&K government’s Home department this evening revoked PSA detention order of Mehbooba Mufti. Mehbooba was detained hours before the Central government nullified Article 370 and re-organised J&K into two Union Territories on August 5, 2019. “Her PSA has been revoked,” J&K government spokesman Rohit Kansal said.

Kansal also tweeted that she is being released.

In an order issued by Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, Shaleen Kabra, in exercise of powers conferred under section 19 (1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety act , 1978, the government hereby revokes the detention order bearing, No DMS/PSA/147/2020 dated 5-2-2020 issued by the district magistrate, Srinagar which was last extended for a period of three months vive government order number Home/PB-V/1`449 of 2020 dated 31-07-2020 of Mehbooba Mufti D/o Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed R/o /Bijbehara at present Nowgam Srinagar with immediate effect.

In August last year, more than 40 pro-Delhi  leaders including former Chief Ministers Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and top leaders like Sajad Gani Lone were detained by the government.
