COVID-19: J&K records nine deaths, 696 fresh cases

Srinagar, Oct 08: Jammu and Kashmir Thursday recorded nine Covid-19 related deaths pushing the death toll up to 1291 while 696 fresh positive cases were reported in the Union Territory to 81793. Of late, the mortality figures and positive cases have started falling compared to past few months.

Of the total 81,793 cases, 49,008 are from Kashmir and 32,785 from Jammu division.

Among 696 new cases, 420 belong to Kashmir division while as 276 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 49,008 including 41,928 recoveries and 882 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 32,785 including 27,092 recoveries and 409 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 11,482 including 6,198 from Kashmir division and 5,284 from Jammu division.

With 1,336 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 69,020 which is 84.38 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 186 from Srinagar, 52 from Budgam, 71 from Baramulla, 22 from Pulwama, 15 from Kupwara, 21 from Anantnag, 18 from Bandipora, 24 from Ganderbal, 07 from Kulgam and 04 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 276 from Jammu division include 89 from Jammu, 34 from Rajouri, 17 from Udhampur, 10 from Doda, 43 from Kuthua, 47 from Poonch, 11 from Samba, 08 from Ramban, 15 from Kishtiwar, and 02 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Pertinently, in the last 24 hours, 09 persons who were tested positive for COVID-19 have died which include two from Kashmir division and seven from Jammu division.

As per media bulletin, patients who have died include one each from Budgam and Bandipora in Kashmir division while as seven from Jammu division include three from Jammu district, one each from Udhampur, Doda, Poonch

As per officials figures, 16,164 positive cases including 310 deaths and 14,078 recoveries are from Srinagar, 5,263 including 89 deaths and 4,408 recoveries are from Budgam, 4,761 including 3,187 recoveries and 126 deaths are from Baramulla, 4,169 including 3,745 recoveries and 72 deaths are from Pulwama, 3,827 including 70 deaths and 3,114 recoveries are from Kupwara, 3,707 including 3,325 recoveries and 69 deaths are from Anantnag, 3,646 cases including 3,207 and 41 deaths are from Bandipora, 3,075 including 2,780 recoveries and 30 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,317 including 2,188 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,079 including 1,896 recoveries and 32 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 14,950 including 13,128  recoveries and 212 deaths are from Jammu district, 2,921 including 2,355 recoveries and 39 deaths are from Rajouri, 2,443 including 2,109 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Udhampur, 2,371 including 1,504 recoveries and 38 deaths are from Doda, 2,218 including 2,051 recoveries and 28 deaths are from Kuthua, 1,957 including 1,113 recoveries and 18 deaths are from Poonch, 1,926 including 1,370 recoveries and 24 deaths are from Samba, 1,430 including  1,303 recoveries and 11 deaths are from Ramban, 1,471 including 1,200 recoveries and 11 deaths are from Kishtiwar and 1,098 including 898 recoveries and 06 deaths are from Reasi

As per the daily information bulletin, 607,830 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 26,357 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 11,482 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 520,838 persons have completed surveillance period and 47,862 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 1,780,540 samples are available. Out of 1,780,540 the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,698,747 while 81,793  have tested positive, among them 12,482 are active, 69,020 persons have recovered and 1,291 persons have died—(KNO)
