July 18 Shopian encounter: DNA samples results a matter of few days, says Police

Srinagar, Sep 17: Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said that the final results of the samples collected from three family members from Rajouri district of Jammu who claimed three youth killed on July 18 at Amshipora, Shopian were their kin, will be out in a few days.

“There is no delay in results as the process takes time. I believe it’s a matter of few days when the results of DNA samples will be out,” he said in reply to a query that it has been over a month since DNA samples were collected from six family members of three families in Rajouri district of Jammu.

LG Manoj Sinha recently said that he would ensure that there is no injustice to the families. He was speaking in reference to Shopian encounter.

Earlier, Families of three youth from Rajouri who have been allegedly killed in a staged encounter at Amshipora, Shopian had said that they want immediate justice as their lone bread earners have been killed.

The family members of three youth, said that it was the poverty that forced them to send their wards to Shopian from Rajouri, to earn a livelihood, despite the fact trio were students. (KNO)
