Srinagar, May 13: Soon after the 25 year old Budgam youth was shot dead by the CRPF on Srinagar-Gulmarag road, clashes broke out in his native area of Makhama, Beerwah and also in Narbal area.

The slain was later identified as Mehrajuding Peer son of Ghulam Nabi Peer of Makhama, Beerwah Budgam.

According to the witnessess, youth came out of their houses, raised slogans, and fought pitched stone battles with goverenment forces including police and CRPF.

The clashes rocked in Narbal and Makhama area of Beerwah against the killing of the youth.

Witnesses said  police and CRPF fired tear gas canisters and pellets to disperse the enraged protestors. During the police action, six protestors sustained injuries, two of them pellets in their eyes.

Among those who sustained injuries in eyes includes a young girl protester.

“Two persons with pellet injuries in their eyes were admitted at SMHS hospital,” Medical Superintendent of SMHS Dr Nazir Choudhary said.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people participated in the funeral of slain youth at Makhama amid slogans demanding punishment to guilty.

The use of pellet guns by givernment forces continues unabated with a 21-year-old girl sustaining injuries in this central Kashmir village on Wednesday.

On Wednesday afternoon, policemen while chasing protesters in Kawoosa area of the Budgam district used pellet guns, injuring a teenage girl identified as Shaista Jan, daughter of Abdul Hameed Malla of Kawoosa area of Budgam district.

Shaista as per the eye witnesses was shifted to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar after she sustained pellet injuries in her eye.

Locals alleged that policemen chased the protesters and later indiscriminately fired pellets in the by-lanes of Kawoosa area.

When contacted local police official for his version, he remained incommunicado despite repeated calls till the tome of filling of this story.
