JK High Court Bar Association demands immediate release of Mian Qayoom

Srinagar, May 11: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (JKHBCA) has demanded immediate release of its president Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom in view of the COVID 19 pandemic and the life threatening ailments he is suffering from. 

The Executive committee of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association in its meeting held in virtual mode on Monday discussed the emergent situation, which has cropped about threat of COVID-19 looming large upon inmates of Tihar Jail Prison as reported a section of media.

As per a statement he member expressed their anguish and grave apprehension about association president and Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom becoming a victim of COVID-19 in the face of the underlying ailments he is suffering from due to his advanced age which includes diabetes, coronary heart ailment, lower lumber fracture while being in custody.

The Bar Association in its meeting resolved to impress upon the administration to direct his immediate release from custody to prevent any harm being caused to person of Qayoom endangering his life.
