Srinagar: A nocturnal brief exchange of firing took place between militants and goverment forces in Sharsali area of Khrew in Southern part of Awantipora in Pulwama district on Wednesday.
Reports said that a joint team of army’s 50RR, 185 BN of CRPF and police launched cordon and search operation in Sharsali area of Khrew.
Official sources told that during cordon and search operation brief exchange of firing took place between militants and government forces. However as of now, no fresh exchange of firing has been reported.
Official sources further said that we have tightened the cordon around the suspected spot and are facilitating the evacuation of civilian in and around the encounter site.
With the first appearance of light in morning, operation will be resumed at the encounter site.
Meanwhile massive search operation is underway in Beighpora area of Awantipora which is the native village of top Hizb commander Riyaz Naikoo. More details will follow.(GNS)
