Srinagar: Kashmir will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday, June 05, as Shawwal 1440 Hijri moon has been sighted.
This moon sighting was announced by Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after presiding over the meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi on Tuesday.
The evidences of moon sighting were received from Quetta, Loralai district of Balochistan, Kashmore, Lahore, Rahimyar Khan, Sadiqabad, Zhob, Kamra, Attock, Taxila, Sui, Shikarpur and others areas.
Comprising religious scholars and Met Office Officials , the chairman announced the decision on the basis of evidences received from across the country.
Zonal Ruete Hilal Committees also held their meetings in major cities of the country to collect the evidence of moon sighting. The evidence were then shared with the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for the final decision.
Muslims in Khyber Paktunkhwa province are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today after an independent Ruet-e-Hilal Committee headed Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai announced that it has collected evidence of moonsighting from difference parts of the region.
Saudi Arabia, UAE and several countries in Middle East are also celebrating Eid today. (Inputs from The News)
