Famous Sunday market in Srinagar abuzz with customers ahead of Eid

Srinagar: With over a week left for Eid-ul-Fitr, the famous 3-km-long Sunday market, in the summer capital, Srinagar, was abuzz with customers, who had come from different parts of the valley.

Meanwhile, other markers in the city, including Gankhan market in Hari Singh High Streets (HSHS), was flooded with customers, who were marking purchases for Eid to be celebrated next week.

Hundreds of vendors have put up their stall in the weekly market from Radio Kashmir (RK), Srinagar, crossing to HSHS, including historic Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the city, attracting thousands of buyers from different parts of the valley.
Customers have come in large number this week to the market to buy summer clothes — including shirts, T-shirts, shoes and other products. “I have come from Budgam to make some purchases, including cloths for my kids, in this market. The rates are economical in this market and one gets to choose from a variety of different products, including second hand foreign items,” Nisar Ahmad said.

The vendors, who sell products from simple needles to carpets, do business worth crores of rupees every Sunday in the weekly market in the heart of the city.
