Srinagar: Violent clashes erupted between students and government forces outside Amar Singh College in Srinagar.

Reports said that the students staged a protest demonstration against the rape of minor in Sumbal Bandipora and tried to march out of the college premises.

However, police deployed in the area foiled their attempt triggering clashes.

They said that students pelted stones on the government forces from inside the campus, and the police responded by firing tear gas shells.
