Srinagar: Asserting that nothing should stop police from sending the rape accused of a three-year-old girl at Sumbal in north Kashmir district of Bandipora to gallows, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) president Shah Faesal on Sunday said the culprit should be hanged till death.

Talking about the age of the accused, Mr Faesal, a former IAS officer, said, “The birth certificate of the culprit, I am told, is fake.”

Mr Faesal said the accused should be treated as an adult. “Nothing should stop @bandiporapolice from sending the Trigam rapist to gallows. The birth certificate of the culprit, I am told, is fake. It has no value. Treat him as an adult and hang him. Entire Kashmir is with you @rmalikjk,” Mr Faesal wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

Meanwhile, massive protests were held in Bandipora in north Kashmir and the summer capital, Srinagar, today demanding exemplary punishment for the accused.

Police have arrested the accused and initiated investigation after the family of the girl filed a complaint in Police Station Sumbal in Bandipora on May 9.
