Sopore militant slain in Shopian shootout, authorities order closure of educational institutes

Sopore: Militant killed in Amshipora area of Shopian in a pre-dawn shootout has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi @ Abdullah bhai, a resident of north Kashmir’s Sopore.

Reports said that Ishfaq was associated with militant outfit ISJK. 

Ishfaq joined Harkatul Mujahideen in 2015 and later switched to ISJK in 2016.

Meanwhile, authorities in Sopore have issued an order for closing down of all schools in the sub-division as a precautionary measure. 

An order reads that in view of the prevailing situation and as a precautionary measure, all schools, higher secondaries and Degree colleges shall remain closed today on May 10.
