Mirwaiz condemns arrest spree across south Kashmir

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday condemned the ongoing arrest spree in South Kashmir ahead of the polls in Shopian and Pulwama districts.

In a tweet, Mirwaiz said that the continued repression in South Kashmir is heart rendering.

“Strongly condemn the daily arrest spree of youth from Pulwama and Shopian.Continued repression in #SouthKashmir is heart rendering. Unless all those who claim to speak for fundamental #HumanRights of all don’t speak up,people of Kashmir will continue to be at the receiving end.“

On Thursday, at least 44 persons were detained by the armed forces in Pulwama and Shopian districts ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

On Wednesday, at least 19 persons were picked up by the Armed forces from Gudoora, Newa and Parigam villages of Pulwama district.

On Monday, Armed forces detained at least 21 persons in a nocturnal raid in Murran village of Pulwama district. The cops said that they were detained in relation with allegations of stone pelting.
