Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday said that he could understand the anger and despair of the people of Pulwama.

Addressing a party workers convention in the district, Omar who is the National Conference vice president, said that the people of Pulwama have got nothing over the past and four and half years. “I can understand the helplessness and despair that is writ large on the faces of people here.”

Lashing out at the PDP, Omar said that thousands of people in 2014 came out of their homes and cast their ballot but they got nothing in return.

“Those who you voted for in last elections did not use your votes for your benefit but they used them to wield the power,” Omar said.

He asked people to vote in favour of their Lok Sabha candidate for Anantnag constituency so that New Delhi could be made “accountable” for what they did here during last five years.
