Highway ban: Sikh pilgrims to be provided necessary passes

Srinagar: On the eve of holy festival of Baisaikhi to be celebrated at Gurudwara Paranpilla in Uri town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, necessary travel passes will be issued to the intending pilgrims’ of the Sikh community to travel on the highway, on Sunday.

All Party Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC), Kashmir has requested the state government to allow the Sikh community to travel on highway to celebrate the festival at Uri Gurudwara.

Earlier, on April 3 order from the state’s home department said that the highway would be completely banned until May 31 for civilian traffic on Sundays and Wednesdays from 4 am to 5 pm to facilitate the movement of Army convoys in Kashmir.
