Hyderabad:The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed that no political party or candidate or any other organisation or person should publish any advertisement in print media on poll day and one day prior to poll day in all phases, unless the contents of political adverstisement are got pre-certified by them from the Media certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) Committee at the state or district level.
In a statement, Telangana Chief Electoral Office (CEO) here on Sunday said that it would apply in the case of political adverstisemnts to be published in the print media in circulation in the State or Union Territories.
It is further directed that in order to facilitate teh process of pre-certification of the newspaper
advertisements and a s instructed above, MCMC at State/district level be immediately alerted and activated in order to examine and pre-certify all such advertisements received from the political parties and candidates and other. It should also be ensured that the decision by MCMC is made expeditiously.
The directions should come into force immediately, the statement added.
