Highway order: It will alienate Kashmiris further, govt must reconsider decision: KEA

Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) Chairman Muhammad Yasin Khan on Friday said that the closure of the Kashmir highway twice a week will only alienate the people of Kashmiris further.

Khan said that the government must look into the matter and reconsider its decision.

“Such inhuman decisions can only alienate the people further. The government must look into the matter and reconsider its decision on priority because public movement on roads was not curbed even in 1990s,” Khan said in a statement.

Khan said Kashmiris don’t have any alternative routes other than the highway which is the lifeline from Banihal to Kupwara.

“How will the patients reach hospitals? How will students reach educational institutions? How will the office goers reach offices? And how will business go on?” Khan questioned.
