Asad Munir Pandit died in police custody

Srinagar: National Conference Vice president and former chief minister, Omar has said that that exemplary punishment must be handed out to the killers of teacher Asad Munir Pandit.

He also said that that he had hoped that the custodial killings were a thing of past.

“I had hoped custodial deaths were a thing of our dark past. This is an unacceptable development & must be investigated in a transparent, time bound manner. Exemplary punishment must be handed out to the killers of this young man”.

Pandit  died under police custody.

He was from Awantipora area of Pulwama, and as per sources was picked up by National Investigation Agency a few days ago.

Pandit was as lodged in cargo camp of Special Operations Group of JK police. He reportedly died in the in the intervening night of 18/19th March.
