Srinagar: Fire in the Dachigam forest in the outskirts of Srinagar was brought under control in the wee hours of Monday after nearly ten hours of struggle, Fire and Emergency department officials said.
The fire has been brought under control and all fire tenders rushed from different parts of the city to forest area returned at 0130 in the wee hours, they told UNI this morning.
They said information was received that fire broke out in the forest at Dachigam, house of famous Kashmiri “Hangul” and other wild animals, about 22 km from here on Sunday evening.
Fire tenders and personnel were rushed to the area to join the fire fighting operation alongwith forest department officials, they said adding fire tenders could not reach the exact spot of fire.
However, the fire was brought under control and fire tenders returned at 0130 hrs.
The exact cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, they said.
