Srinagar: Muttahida Ulema Council on Wednesday called off the strike for Saturday at the request of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

A statement issued by the office of Deputy Mufti Azam Jammu and Kashmir Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam said that the call for the shutdown has been withdrawn at Mirwaiz’s request.

The MUC had called for a shutdown against the summoning of Mirwaiz by the National Investigation Agency for questioning to its Delhi office in “terror funding case.

Earlier, Mirwaiz in a tweet had thanked the MUC for its support and requested it to call off the shutdown.
