Srinagar: Kashmir valley and Banihal township on Tuesday observed a complete shutdown on the call of Traders bodies against the ban on Jama’at-e-Islami and assault on Article 35-A.
Reports said that all shops and other business establishments are shut in capital city Srinagar and other district headquarters of the valley.
They said a complete shutdown is being observed in Banihal township and its adjoining markets on the Srinagar-Jammu highway. Shutdown is also being observed in Khari-Aarpinchla tehsil.
Various trade organisations Monday called for a complete shutdown against “continued attacks” on special status of Jammu and Kashmir, ban on socio-religious organisation Jamaat-e-Islami and “arrest spree” across the Valley.
