NIA raids, mass arrests: JRL calls for shutdown on Feb 27, 28

Srinagar: The Joint Resistance Leadership on Tuesday called for a two day complete shutdown against the widespread raids by the National Investigation Agency on the leadership.

A spokesperson in a statement said that wide spread raids of NIA against almost whole resistance leadership, extensive spree of arrests in nooks and corners of Kashmir valley during which thousands have been put behind bars and threats to tinker with state subject law (Article 35-A) the hearing of which is scheduled tomorrow in Indian supreme court are all acts aimed at suppressing our voices of Kashmiris by military and police might.

“Kashmiris cannot watch all this silently and mutely. Joint resistance leadership (JRL) comprising of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik have called for a two day complete protest strike against these colonial acts of Indian rulers aimed against the nation of Jammu Kashmir.”

The spokesperson said that the protest strike will be observed on Wednesday February 27 and Thursday February 28 2019.
