Jammu: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday will dedicate the 1000 MW capacity NRSS power transmission project to the Jammu and Kashmir state.

“PM Modi will be dedicating the 1000 MW capacity NRSS power transmission project on Feb 3 during his visit to the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” a Sterlite Power official here told UNI. He said that the Sterlite Power group has been partnering with the state government towards achieving 24X7 power for all in the state.

He added that the company plans to participate in the transmission bids for solar generation and renewable energy distribution projects over next five years.

“The rough, mountainous terrain in Jammu and Kashmir, inclement weather conditions such as snow and hail, are major causes for delay of large infrastructure projects in Jammu and Kashmir State,” he added and said that Sterlite Power which recently commissioned a 1000MW power transmission system is one of the largest private sector investor in the state.

“The company has invested Rs 3,000 crore for the NRSS 29 project and Rs 2,000 crore for state-of-the-art telecommunication system for Indian Army under Network for Spectrum programme. We are evaluating further opportunities with the company.,” he further added.

NRSS 29 Transmission Limited commissioned the other two 400 KV double circuit transmission lines and one 400/220 KV GIS sub-station in October 2018.

The NRSS 29 Transmission Limited project now delivers over 1000 MW of electricity from Punjab to the Kashmir Valley by strengthening the transmission system in these two states.

“The Jallandhar-Samba 400 KV D/C transmission line was commissioned in June 2016, and samba amargarh in Aug 2018” he asserted.
