In pictures: Funeral procession and clashes at native village of Al-Badar commander Zeenat-ul-Islam

Srinagar: Thousands of people attended the funeral procession and subsequent prayers for the slain Al-badar commander, Zeenat-ul-Islam at his native village, Sugam, Shopian.

Zeenat was killed with his associate Shakeel Ahmad in a gunfight with the government forces in Kathora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday evening.

Locals said the government forces including police and CRPF have sealed all the roads leading to the residence of Al-badar commander, Zeenat-ul-Islam located in Sugan village of Shopian district.

When the local youth objected, Witnesses said forces, comprising of police, army and paramilitary CRPF,  fired bullets and pellets on the mourners attending the funeral prayers leaving dozens of them injured.

Four people sustained fire arm injuries. Subsequently fierce clashes broke out between the youth and the forces. Here are the pictures clicked by lens man, Jehangir Shah.
