Three Hizb militants, army man killed in Tral gunfight

Srinagar: Three Hizbul Mujahideen militants and an army personnel has been killed in an ongoing encounter in Gulshanpora area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district Thursday.

Police sources confirmed to The Kashmir Press that three militants have been killed and their bodies have been retreived from the encounter site. However, he said that the identification of the slain militants is being asecrtained.

He said that one of the injured army personnel has also sucummbed at army’s Udhampur hospital.

The gunfight ensued after army’s 42 RR, SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area. The operation, according to police sources, was launched after specific inputs about presence of militants in the area.

Meanwhile, clashes have erupted at several places in the Tral belt following the gunfight. Reports said that the clashes are going on around the gunfight site as well as at other places in the township.

Initial report said that more than a dozen youths have suffered injuries during the clashes.
