North Kashmir councillors protest against divisional administration in Srinagar

Srinagar: Municipal Councillors from three municipality committees of Kupwara district include Handwara, Kupwara and Langate on Tuesday held a protest demonstration in Srinagar against Divisional Administration Kashmir while chanting slogans.

The councillors accused the divisional administration of failing to provide them proper accommodation and transportation during the three days capacity building training programme that is being held at Institute of Management and Public administration (IMPA).

“The government mentioned in the letter that proper accommodation and transportation would be provided to the elected councillors during the three days training session,” Iram Banday a councillor from Handwara said.

The councillors threatened to resign if government does not provide proper facilities.

“We are staying in local hotels at our own expenses,” Banday said.
