Srinagar: Kashmir’s chief cleric and Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday said that the coming Friday will be commemorated as Yaum-e-Taqaddus and asked the Ulemas and other religious scholars to reach Jamia Masjid and offer Friday prayers in the historic grand masjid.

“The neighbouring mosques of Jamia will remain closed and people from there will reach Jamia to offer prayers in the valley’s grand mosque.”

Pertinently Mirwaiz visited the grand masjid today and took stock of the situation following the desecration of its pulpit by some ignominious youth who unfurled the flag of ISIS and raised slogans in the global extremist organisation’s favour.
