Srinagar: Two militants have been killed in an ongoing gunfight that broke out in Hanjin Payeen area of Rajpora village in southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district Saturday morning.

Reports said that a joint team of army’s 44RR, CRPF’s 182, 183 Battalions and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police Pulwama launched a cordon and search operation in Hajin Payeen after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area.

As the cordon was being tightened, the hiding militants fired on the government forces triggering a gunfight.

Two militants have been killed in the initial exchange of fire, police sources said.

The gunfight was going in when this report was being filed.
