South Kashmir’s Tral shuts for 3rd consecutive day against militant killings

Srinagar: Tral township of southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district is observing a shutdown for the third consecutive day on Monday against the killing of six militants in a gunfight in Armpora village on Saturday.

“All shops and other businesses establishments are shut while traffic is off the roads in Tral township and adjoining areas,” eyewitnesses said.

Six Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind militants were killed in a gunfight with government forces on Saturday. The militant killings led to massive protests in Pulwama and other adjoining districts.

Authorities have also suspended classwork at Islamic University of Sciences and Technology (IUST) postponed the examinations scheduled for today amid fears of protests.
